Employment and Work Experience:

2002-2008
various work as a freelance Graphic and Web Designer for companies such as:
BENJAMIN MOORE PAINTS, ALL CONCEPT, AQUAMARINE SAA, FADO DESIGN, BATTERED HAT,
ACUMEN SYSTEMS, LIGHT AND SOUND LTD, CASA ROBERT SRL, OFFICE GREEN, L.T.U.
STUDIO DESIGN, FAST ATOM.ORG, NCN COMPANY'94, PROJECT SUNLIGHT,
CLAUDIA CASTRASE, MISHORTS, RED SHOES INTERIOR DESIGN, INSIGHT ON CONFLICT,
SHEILA HAYMAN, ECHO DOCUMENTARY FILMS, SNIPPEROO, MEDIACONSULTA INTERNATIONAL
and others.

At this stage in my career I became more familiar with Web Design, whether it was for big companies or just
for small private business or people. This experience enabled me to gain confidence in me on my own and
my skills, having to come up with various range of designs to match any taste, whether it had to be elegant
and neat or crazy and unique, and having to sustain them as an experienced and a professional Graphic
Designer to my clients.

2006-2007
Art Director and Copywriter for JURNALUL NATIONAL (Romania's Leading National Newspaper),
SAPTAMANA FINANCIARA (Business Newspaper)
MEDIACONSULTA INTERNATIONAL (Business Consultancy,
Advertising Agency and Advertising Broker)

In this position I worked for these three institutions at once, they all belong to the Intact Trust, which is a
big Media Mogul back in Romania. I worked on range of different formats, specializing mostly on Print,
Newspaper and Magazine inserts, advertising the trust’s own campaigns, events and publications. I also did
lots of packaging and trophy design, brand identity, and even more prints sustaining the promotional part of
their own in-house events. I learned how to work under very tight deadlines (“we need it yesterday”
type) and to very small briefs, especially for the newspapers as they were daily.

2004-2006
Art Director, Video Editor for DYNAMITE.RO (Advertising Agency, TV and Film Production)

In this position, apart from being an all around designer (graphic design, illustration, web design) I gained a
very useful broad knowledge as a Video Editor, having done lots of post-production on commercials,
animations, private and personal commissioned projects, like weddings and special events. I became
involved and had to assist various projects from production, filming, post-producion to output, whether it
was a digital or analog support. Which also included in the digital section having to come up with menus,
packaging and cover design for DVD-s and other supports. I also learned that video post-production, editing,
stop frame, flash or cartoon animation go hand in hand with graphic design, as an esthetic sense, artistic
flair, a keen eye for detail, color and timing it’s a must. I became very proficient with programs like After
Effects, Avid Xpress Pro and DV, Virtual dub (trans coding utility), Adobe Encore, Maxon Cinema 4D.

Spring 2004
Camera operator, Video Editor on “X DIVISION” (Extreme sports TV Program for TV Sport)

This project was a very fun and interesting one, I teamed up with my work colleague (now my husband),
Paul Hayes, who knew a thing or two about cameras and films, himself being (amongst other things) a
scriptwriter and actor and having done lots of short films in the past. He taught me how to properly use a
camera, we worked with a Canon XL1, having to film extreme sports competitions whether it was
snowboarding up on the very peak of the mountain in extremely cold weather, or cycling in muddy and
uneven terrains or skating. We had to handle the TV show from helping with the production, to filming and
then come back quick to our editing suite to edit and do post-production (we also had to handle the
beginning and end credits of the show) and then finally output it to analog or digital support. Unfortunately
we had to quit it after 4 months because it was just too exhausting for the two of us to handle this on our
own.

Spring-Summer 2002
Art Director ICON ADVERTISING (Advertising Agency)

This was my very first ever position in an Advertising Agency where I learned how to work in a team, both with my copywriter and the other design teams, as well as learning how to handle a project from a tiny idea to focus groups, brain storming, proposals, dealing directly with the client, approved version, DTP, etc. Although it was just a summer job as I had to go back to University in Autumn, it set my lines up straight and I knew that this is what I wanted to do in my career.
